Also emphasizes the historical content of the final show that these icons performed together. On February 2, 1959, three of the biggest stars of the day — Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. Richardson "The Big Bopper" — played their last show. The next day the talented trio died in a small plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa.
Now nearly 6 decades later, this music lives on because three talented men take to the stage to honor them, playing some of the greatest songs of all time in “The Day the Music Died.” The show features Shea Birdwell as Buddy Holly, Rafael Espinoza as Ritchie Valens, and Gib Maynard as The Big Bopper.
“The Day The Music Died” is an entertaining production honoring these rock & roll legends while educating the community on the history of this iconic American music and its influence on today’s culture. They also show the impact this significant history has had on them personally.
This production is based in The East Texas Area but travels nationally and internationally for festivals, events and special occasions.
