You know it's a great set when you exit the stage and see nothing but smiles and everyone is totally soaked in sweat! Hahaha!
We poured our hearts and soul into a passion fueled performance for a packed outdoor pavilion full of adoring blues fans!
From left to right in our set included Phil Rumbley, Andrew L Greear, Jackson Zemler, George A. Faber, Carter Wilkinson, Travis Maxey Music,Rafael Espinoza, Emmylou Espinoza, Curtis Lane, Tim Schodowski &James Waddell.
These are all incredible musicians that aren't there to show off and hog the spotlight with as many crazy modes and scales that they have up their sleeve, although they could all do this if they wanted to, but they all play with a love and joy for the music that it's not about showing off, it's about the music and how soulful and passionate and personal it can be and make one feel.
And it was so nice to hear all the heartfelt compliments after the show from these new fans. At the end of the night it's always better to hear a personal story from someone about how the music made them feel, rather than hearing someone ask... was that a Mixolydian Scale you used in that one song? Or, you guys were good, but you ought to hear my Uncle's Brother-In-Law's Nephew's little 3 year old niece play the blues! BAHAHAHA! We enjoyed the experience at this year's T-Bone Walker Blues Fest, Inc, everything from teaching the workshops to playing with the winners of the youth competition, to the food and hospitality! It was all amazing! And we especially loved pushing music education and showing that there are other alternatives to making it as a professional working musician such as going to a great music school if you work hard and get the opportunity. Huge thanks to T-Bone Walker's Daughter, Bernita Walker, for seeing that in us! Many thanks to Russell Wright & Marc Welch and the rest of the board for always wanting to make this a classy event! Keep it up! It just keeps getting better and better!
